Black Sea/Baltic Sea:

Standard ammonium sulfate prices in the Black and Baltic Seas were stable on the back of new light activity and signs of a steady pullback. Buyers said Kuaz could export standard ammonium sulfate in February, with an initial offer of $420/t FOB Black Sea. Turkish buyers said those levels were unlikely to attract new sales, as domestic prices had slid to an untaxed level equivalent to $345-375 a tonne.

Europe:

Standard ammonium sulfate prices remained stable as a stronger EUR/USD compensated for weaker prices in the European region, at EUR 440-465/t FOB North West Europe. A trader sold 2,000 t of standard ammonium sulfate at €475/t CIF French in February-March and €465/t FOB in Northwest Europe. Late last week, a European producer sold 7,000-8,000 t of standard ammonium sulphate at €440/t FOB North West Europe for shipment to Benelux buyers in February. Overall, however, acquisition interest in Europe remained weak, with new enquiries concentrated in France, Spain, the UK and Poland. Spanish importers reported as low as €440/t CIF Spanish Atlantic in February-March, but Northwest European producers were reluctant to meet this level and prices narrowed to €440-465/t (FOB) price).

China:

Standard prices for ammonium sulfate remained flat due to limited market activity during the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday. There are unconfirmed reports of lower bids, especially from northern ports, but these could not be confirmed at press time. Granular and compact ammonium sulfate FOB China prices fell to $300-$310/t due to lower return trips to Brazil. Contract prices in Brazil are facing downward pressure as unsold floating volumes continue to grow and demand remains weak.

Indonesia:

Pupuk Indonesia has negotiated with bidders for its bid to buy 15,000 tonnes of standard ammonium sulfate for delivery in April, traders said. Bids closed on January 27. Pupuk Indonesia has postponed its 2022 tender to buy 360,000 tonnes of standard amsul until the end of February. The tender, which was originally issued at the end of November 2021, was originally scheduled to be awarded on January 31.
