China

The price of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulphate remains at the FOB price of 114-115 US dollars/ton, because the price of shipment in January is restricted. There is trade demand for caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate shipped to the African market (including Angola) in January/February. The quotation range of standard quality compact ammonium sulfate is $125-130/ton fob. According to reports, China’s cargo of MMA grade ammonium sulfate has finally been sold to Turkey for shipment in December/January at a price of US$88/ton fob, and the next batch will be 20,000 tons. There is no direct confirmation of the news yet.

 Philippines

Atlas Company purchased 8,000 tons of caprolactam ammonium sulfate, which will be shipped to Sangi in January, at an estimated price of US$130 per ton of cost plus freight. The origin of the goods is unknown. Freight from China will rise from a low level of US$20/ton, depending on the port of shipment, which poses a challenge to the existing fob level.

Indonesia

A private importer purchased 15,000 tons of caprolactam-grade ammonium sulfate from a trader at a price of US$136/ton, cost and freight at Surabaya, for shipment from China in the second half of January. Petrokimia Gresik’s next tender, which requires up to six butyrolactam-grade ammonium sulfate cargoes (up to 132,000 tons), is now expected to take place in mid-January. No direct confirmation from Petrokimia Gresik can be obtained, but market participants stated that the delay was due to the import licensing process.

Malaysia

The price of MMA grade amsul is under discussion in the range of 105-110 USD/tcfr (excluding China). According to customs data, South Sudan’s total imports in October were 29,000 tons, a 52% decrease year-on-year. China is a leading supplier with 14,000 tons. This brings the import volume from January to October to 589,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11%. China provided 63% of the total, and Japan provided 16%.

 Black Sea/Baltic Sea

Both the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea region had tight supplies in January, and Russian and Turkish producers Eti Bakir both said that they had limited supplies until March. The export has designated Oak Tree Port to load 25,000 tons of polished granular ammonium sulfate from Asotegrupa to Paranagua, Brazil.
