Diammonium phosphate is a two kinds of nutrient compound fertilizer containing nitrogen and phosphorus. It is grey or dark grey particles with specific gravity 1.619, soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol. It have certain moisture absorption, easy to decompose in moist air, and volatilize ammonia into ammonium dihydrogen phosphate. The aqueous solution is weakly alkaline with pH8.0.
DAP fertilizer is an excellent source of phosphate (P) and nitrogen (N) nutrition for plants. It is highly soluble and dissolves quickly in soil to release phosphate and ammonium available to plants.
As ammonium is released from dissolving DAP granules, it is harmful to seedlings and plant roots at close range. This potential damage is more common when the soil pH is greater than 7. To avoid seedling damage, DAP fertilizer should be taken away from plants.
