China's Ammonium Sulfate Market

Due to the new sales, the standard ammonium sulfate price has risen to US$370-400/ton FOB China. According to reports, the latest offer is as high as US$410/ton FOB China. A manufacturer in southern China sold 8,000 tons of standard ammonium sulfate at an FOB price of US$370/ton in Fujian for the December loading. Another manufacturer in northern China has sold 6000-7000 tons of standard ammonium sulfate. The price of fob in China is US$400/ton, and it will be shipped in December. The goods are likely to be destined for Southeast Asia. Due to new sales and higher quotations for December cargo, the price of granular ammonium sulfate rose to US$460-480/ton FOB China.

By mid-week, the new quotation had increased to US$490-500/ton FOB. A manufacturer sold 10,000 tons of granular ammonium sulfate at a price of US$480/ton fob China, which will be shipped to Africa in December. In October, China’s total export of ammonium sulfate was 1.1 million tons, an increase of 17% over the previous year. Driven by the increase in shipments to Brazil, it exceeded 1 million tons for the second time this year. Cargo shipped to Malaysia increased to 70,000 tons in October, compared with 29,000 tons in the same period last year.

China also exported 48,000 tons to Nigeria in October, which is the first export to Nigeria since May. On October 15, China carried out customs inspections on almost all fertilizers except ammonium sulfate, resulting in a significant drop in China's urea shipments. But it was excluded, resulting in new participants in the ammonium sulfate export business, leading to an increase in exports in October.
